Bitcoin News Today: Pay For Flights & Reservations

Bitcoin News Today: You can now pay for flights and reservations in Despegar with bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

The travel platform enabled payments with cryptocurrencies through the Binance Pay gateway, although, for now, only for Argentina. Despegar has teamed up with Binance and tech company Inswitch to accept cryptocurrencies. From now on it is possible to pay with bitcoin and crypto assets at Despegar.com.ar.

The Despegar travel platform joined forces with the bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrency exchange Binance to accept payments with digital assets, the crypto company said in a press release. As reported, the payment service is enabled, for the moment, for Argentina, although they hope that it will “progressively” expand to other countries in the region.

The integration with Binance would make Despegar one of the first travel agencies in Latin America to accept crypto assets as payment for any of the products or services they offer. For Paula Cristi, general manager of Despegar for Argentina and Uruguay, from this alliance with Binance clients will be able to “approach the universe (of cryptocurrencies) in a friendly way.”

In addition to Binance , Despegar joined Inswitch, which is a company dedicated to financial technology and the creation of banking and payment solutions. This company will be responsible for the conversion of cryptocurrencies to the local currency, that is, the Argentine peso. Now, the cryptocurrency payment process in Despegar will be executed through the Binance Pay gateway , through which it is possible to operate with various cryptocurrencies from anywhere in the world –in this case, Argentina-.

CriptoNoticias was able to confirm that it is now possible to pay with BTC and other cryptocurrencies through Despegar.com.ar , the website for the Argentine Republic. According to Maximiliano Hinz, director of Binance for the southern cone of Latin America, Despegar users will be able to pay with the cryptocurrency of their choice.
“We believe this is an important step in our ongoing efforts to promote global cryptocurrency adoption in a tangible way, bringing it ever closer to everyday life,” Hinz said. Despegar’s move to start accepting payments with bitcoin and cryptocurrencies continues what other companies in its field have already done to include themselves in the cryptoactive ecosystem.

As reported by CriptoNoticias, in 2022 the European airline Vueling reported that it would begin to accept bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. That same year, the international platform for flight and travel reservations, Central de Reservas, also added BTC as a payment.
